Codialbail Press Powers Up: Printing Legacy Meets Digital Future

by CCC Mangalore, 22 May 2025

Mangaluru, July 5, 2017 — In a significant stride toward modernization, the historic Codialbail Press has officially entered the digital age with the inauguration of three state-of-the-art printing machines. The ceremonial launch took place on Tuesday, July 4, marking a new chapter in the legacy of one of Mangaluru’s oldest printing establishments.

Presiding over the event, Fr Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese, blessed the new machines and praised the visionary leadership of Fr Ronald D’Souza, Director, and Fr Nilesh Donald D’Souza, Assistant Director of the Codialbail Press. Commending their initiative, the Bishop emphasized the importance of supporting the press both culturally and commercially, especially in today’s rapidly evolving media landscape.

“Codialbail Press is not just a printing facility; it's a legacy rooted in our city’s history,” he remarked.

The digital transformation was marked by the unveiling of three major machines:

In his address, Nagraj highlighted the longstanding heritage of Codialbail Press, stating,

“Unlike Catholic Syrian Bank, Codialbail Press has its roots in the pre-independence era. It’s our pleasure to support such a timeless institution.”

George Mathew, Managing Director of Insight, also extended his best wishes, acknowledging the press's forward-thinking approach. Pratap, one of the technical experts, later demonstrated the capabilities and features of the newly installed machines, showcasing their potential to deliver high-quality, efficient printing.

Adding a nostalgic touch to the occasion, Fr Valerian Fernandes, Editor of Rakno Weekly, recounted the storied history of Codialbail Press, reminding attendees of its enduring presence in Mangaluru’s cultural and literary fabric.

The event was a blend of tradition and technology—an appropriate celebration of past achievements and future aspirations. Dignitaries, including former directors of the press, were honored for their contributions to its growth and evolution.

The programme began with a warm welcome from Fr Nilesh Donald D’Souza. The event was skillfully compered by Arun Ullal, and Ronald Pinto delivered the vote of thanks.

As Codialbail Press turns this digital page, it stands poised to serve Mangaluru’s ever-growing printing needs with renewed vigor and modern efficiency, while still honoring its rich and respected legacy.
